Drainage CCTV surveys

Understand accessible drains before making the next property or design decision. BAM coordinates a drainage CCTV brief covering the inspection area, condition findings, footage and any agreed tracing or drawings.

BAM coordinates the brief. An appointed independent specialist delivers the survey. Scope, fee and timing are agreed before appointment.

Before you book

Separate condition inspection from tracing and mapping.

Start with the question you need answered: the condition of accessible runs, the route of a drain, or information for a proposed alteration. Existing drainage plans and chamber locations help establish the starting scope. Cleaning, tracing, additional access and repeat visits must be considered explicitly in the quotation.

CCTV inspection and mapping provide evidence within the accessible, agreed scope. They are not a drainage design or a repair contract. Inaccessible or obstructed runs may limit the findings; ask how limitations, cleaning and further investigation will be recorded and priced.

Scope and deliverables

Specify the information your team will use.

CCTV footage, condition findings and drainage drawings within the agreed scope.

Outputs to discuss

  • Drain condition reporting
  • Drain tracing and mapping

What affects the quotation?
Network length, chamber access, cleaning requirements and tracing.

Tell us the site location first. Specialist availability, access and the requested delivery date are confirmed when scoping the work.

Your quotation checklist

A useful starting brief.

You can mark unknown items as unknown. This checklist helps the first conversation establish what needs to be confirmed.

Start my drainage brief
  1. The address, property type and reason for the inspection.
  2. Existing drainage plans, known chamber locations and the approximate network extent, if available.
  3. Known access restrictions, occupancy and any areas that cannot be entered.
  4. Whether you need footage, condition findings, tracing, mapping or a combination.
  5. The decision deadline and any requirements supplied by your designer or drainage adviser.

Questions before appointment

About this survey.

Is a drainage drawing included with every CCTV inspection?

Only when included in the agreed scope. Specify whether you need condition footage and findings, tracing, a mapped layout or all of these so the quotation reflects the required outputs.

What if I do not know the drain length or chamber locations?

Say what is known and mark the rest as unknown. Existing plans or photographs can help define the brief. BAM will clarify the assumptions with the specialist before an appointment is agreed.

Are cleaning and repairs included?

Do not assume they are. Cleaning needed for access or inspection, further visits and remedial work should be expressly included or quoted separately. The enquiry itself does not appoint a contractor or authorise repair work.

One coordinated enquiry

Send the site. Define the scope.

Start with the location, the decision ahead and the information your team needs. Your enquiry does not commit you to an appointment.
