Measured building surveys
Planning an extension, refurbishment or conversion starts with understanding the building you have. BAM coordinates a measured survey brief so your architect receives the agreed plans, elevations and sections for the next design decision.
BAM coordinates the brief. An appointed independent specialist delivers the survey. Scope, fee and timing are agreed before appointment.
Before you book
Agree the drawings before booking the visit.
A floor plan alone may not answer every design question. Ask your architect which elevations, sections, roof information and critical heights they need, and which parts of the building must be accessible. We bring those requirements into the quotation before the survey is appointed.
Measured drawings record existing geometry. A building condition or structural inspection answers a different question and needs its own scope. A Revit model is also a separate output: identify that requirement early rather than assuming it comes with the drawings.

What affects the quotation?
Gross floor area, number of floors, occupancy, access and drawing detail.
Tell us the site location first. Specialist availability, access and the requested delivery date are confirmed when scoping the work.
Your quotation checklist
A useful starting brief.
You can mark unknown items as unknown. This checklist helps the first conversation establish what needs to be confirmed.
Start my building survey brief- The site address, building use, approximate floor area and number of storeys.
- The floors, outbuildings, roof areas and external elevations to include.
- The purpose of the survey and the drawings your architect or design team needs.
- Required CAD or PDF formats, units, detail and any critical dimensions.
- Occupancy, access restrictions, available existing drawings and the design deadline.
Questions before appointment
About this survey.
Can I request only floor plans?
Yes. Define the floors and level of detail needed. Elevations, sections, roof plans and reflected ceiling plans can be discussed as separate or additional outputs; the agreed quotation states what is included.
Are the drawings a planning application?
No. Measured drawings provide existing-building information for your architect and advisers. Proposed design, the planning application and Building Regulations submissions are separate appointments.
What affects the survey fee?
Building area, number of floors, drawing detail, occupancy and access all affect scope. Send the address, approximate size and required outputs for a quotation. BAM does not publish a fixed survey price or promise a visit date before availability is confirmed.
